Renowned voice actress Akiho Suzumoto has been officially revealed as the voice of the lead character in the forthcoming action survival horror roguelike, SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist.
Akiho Suzumoto will voice Yono, the game’s protagonist. Suzumoto is well-known for her extensive work in anime, gaming, and theatre, including her role as Natsuha Arisugawa in THE iDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS.
The game is the second release from KADOKAWA Game Linkage and ABC Animation, following the success of their earlier title Ninja Slayer Neosaitama in Flames, which debuted this summer.
Reflecting on her role, Akiho Suzumoto said: “I feel very privileged to be able to voice the protagonist Yono-chan.
“I portrayed her while feeling her serene and internally fiery personality. Since this is a horror action game, there is a constant undercurrent of suspense and I remember being a little nervous during the recording because it was different from usual.
“I would be happy if you enjoy the game while watching Yono-chan’s efforts!”
SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist blends action, survival, and horror, following the story of Yono, a Miko (maiden exorcist), as she searches for her missing brother. Her quest leads her to a frightening mansion, home to mononoke (yokai and vengeful spirits) that await her arrival.
Even those unfamiliar with action games may find the game appealing, thanks to its strategic gameplay elements.
A live broadcast event dedicated to the game will air on YouTube on 28 and 29 September. Akiho Suzumoto, along with several of the game’s developers, will participate, offering behind-the-scenes insights and revealing secrets about SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist.
The game will be released on Steam and Nintendo Switch, and you can add it to your wishlist now. Regular updates are posted on the game’s official X account.
Both SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist and Ninja Slayer Neosaitama in Flames will be available for trial at the KADOKAWA Game Linkage booth during the Tokyo Game Show, held from 26-29 September at Makuhari Messe.
