Limes Renewable Energy, a global leader in renewable energy development, has successfully completed the sale of a 287 MW portfolio of photovoltaic and wind projects in Italy. The buyer, an international independent power producer (IPP) with a strong presence in Italy, strengthens its portfolio through this strategic acquisition.
This transaction marks a significant milestone for Limes, as the company now exceeds 850 MW of assets sold to institutional investors worldwide. The sale further solidifies Limes’ position as a major player in the renewable energy sector, with an extensive portfolio of 6GW under development.
The portfolio sold is equally divided between photovoltaic and wind and includes 50 MWp of solar photovoltaic plants already authorized. Limes will continue to support the development of the other projects up to the ready-to-build phase, supporting the international investor in finalizing the authorizations. Once operational, the portfolio will generate approximately 669 GWh per year.
This transaction further strengthens Limes’ position as a key player in the renewable energy sector, with a proven track record in developing high-quality projects for institutional investors globally. To date, Limes has successfully brought 17 projects (equal to 275 MW) to the ready-to-build phase and expects another 100-150 MW to reach this stage in the next 12 months.
Cristiano Spillati, Managing Director of Limes, said: “This transaction represents a strategic step for Limes, confirming our ability to identify opportunities and develop renewable energy projects of the highest quality on a large scale. The sale of this portfolio to an international IPP active in Italy demonstrates the solidity of our projects and our commitment to promoting the country’s energy transition. Thanks to our expertise in solar, wind and storage technologies (BESS), we will continue to develop excellent projects that promote sustainable growth. We are proud that Limes attracts top-tier international investors and is recognized as a reliable partner for the implementation of ready-to-build projects.”
