The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, has received a spectacular lighting upgrade, Emaar Properties has announced. The new RGBW lighting system, blending advanced technology with elegant design, will debut on 1 December 2024 during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations. This marks the lead-up to the landmark’s 15th anniversary on 4 January 2025.

The upgrade breathes new life into the Burj Khalifa’s exterior, offering a vibrant array of colours and lighting effects that elevate the guest experience and reaffirm Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in design and innovation.

The project underwent six months of rigorous mock-up testing to ensure perfect integration. With the introduction of dynamic, addressable lighting, the RGBW system replaces static fixtures, allowing for intricate lighting sequences. From everyday illuminations to grand festive displays, the system enhances the tower’s media screen while preserving its iconic silhouette.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director at Emaar Properties, remarked: “Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress. As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”

This project redefines architectural lighting by seamlessly merging technology with artistry, setting a benchmark for future developments across the world.
