Playtech’s Comprehensive Responsible Gaming Report for Latin America

Global technology provider Playtech has unveiled its second comprehensive study on responsible gaming in Latin America. Conducted with an eye on understanding player behavior and attitudes, the report encapsulates the viewpoints of approximately 2,500 individuals across critical Latin American markets, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Colombia.

The study aims to advance Playtech’s understanding of how advanced analytics and machine learning can be employed to scrutinise player behavior in a multi-tiered manner. These insights are intended to refine Playtech’s player protection services, such as their Playtech Protect program and AI-driven responsible gaming service, BetBuddy.

Mor Weizer, CEO of Playtech, emphasised the importance of capitalising on the burgeoning Latin American online gaming market while keeping an unwavering focus on player safety. “Harnessing advanced technologies will enable us to create a secure environment tailored to the evolving needs of our customer base,” Weizer stated.

The report goes into granular detail, revealing how players in different countries perceive responsible gaming. For instance, more than half of the Colombian respondents identify “enjoyment during online gameplay” as paramount. In contrast, most respondents in Argentina and Chile prioritise “financial prudence,” while Brazilian participants overwhelmingly opt for “legal and regulated platforms.”

Mor Weizer further elaborated: “Our ongoing efforts are fueled by the in-depth insights gained from our wide-ranging study. This enables us to consistently refine our tools and solutions to align with user preferences. Together, we are carving out the future of online gaming in Latin America, upholding high standards and offering players an unparalleled experience.”

The study also delves into how participants like to receive responsible gaming alerts. Text messages are the go-to in Brazil, while pop-up messages are the favored medium in Peru, Colombia, and Chile. Argentinian respondents leaned towards email as their preferred method of communication.

Charmaine Hogan, Head of Regulatory Affairs at Playtech, added, “Transparency in digital gaming platforms is indispensable for the well-being of both consumers and providers. Our report has been continually updated to align with the evolving landscape and the increasing call for better standards in the sector.”

Playtech is fully engaged in leading conversations about regulatory measures in newly emerging markets, including Brazil, where new regulations surrounding online sports wagers are under consideration. “We are involved in an ongoing dialogue to establish a fair, secure, and well-regulated market,” assured Weizer.

In the rapidly shifting online marketplace, Playtech advises entrepreneurs to focus on several critical areas for staying competitive:

  • Embrace emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
  • Prioritise the customer experience.
  • Invest in data and analytics.
  • Stay abreast of the regulatory landscape.
  • Focus on sustainability and social responsibility.
  • Commit to talent and skill development.

By considering these aspects, companies can maintain their competitiveness while adapting to an ever-evolving industry landscape, poised for new opportunities and sustainable growth.
