How To Deal With Bathroom Condensation

There is only one word to describe the situation in which bathroom condensation appears: annoying. This is a problem that is much more common than you might think and it can appear in practically all homes.

After taking a bath or a shower, water droplets appear on mirrors, walls, and windows. Then, damp air ends up cooled by cold surfaces. Unfortunately, this can easily lead to the appearance of mold.

Understanding Condensation

Condensation appears when the right temperatures exist in a combination with water vapor. The bathroom is a naturally humid environment. Moisture is often released when taking a bath or a shower. However, it can also appear when there are water leaks under slab areas and the temperature is too hot.

Moisture mixes with air when under vapor form and then reaches cold surfaces. The droplets that appear as a result of this are what we refer to when mentioning condensation. When the vapor is hotter, more moisture will appear so more condensation will be noticed on colder surfaces.

How To Stop Bathroom Condensation

The big problem with condensation is that it can lead to the appearance of mold, which is dangerous for our health. Unfortunately, condensation can never be fully stopped. However, there are some things that you can do to reduce it. Here are some tips to help you do exactly that.

Wipe Down Wet Surfaces

Use a towel to wipe down all the wet surfaces as soon as you can. This can do wonders when it comes to eliminating mold. While it will surely be a little daunting, it is very effective at preventing countless issues caused by the presence of condensation. Your bathroom does not need to be fully dry, but it should not be soaked. Also, whenever mold is noticed, remove it as fast as possible.

Install A Good Extractor Fan

When the bathroom does not have a window, the extractor fan will do wonders in helping deal with condensation. This is because it is impossible for condensation to escape without a way out. The extractor fan removes the moist air and simply moves it outside. Just make sure that the fan is cleaned from time to time. This is necessary to increase efficiency by removing dirt and dust.

Use A Dehumidifier

The dehumidifier is a very useful addition to the bathroom. It will take moisture out of the air and then collect it in the form of water. When you have one in your bathroom, there will be a huge condensation reduction.

Take Care Of The Bathroom Mirror

A bathroom mirror can so easily steam up to then become fully covered with condensation. You can prevent this in different ways. For instance, you can install one that has a demister heated bad. This keeps the mirror surface warm. When the bathroom mirror cannot be upgraded because of financial concerns, lather it with some shaving cream. Then just use a towel to wipe it clean. This is a very interesting trick that allows the mirror to remain fog free for quite some time.
